Articles Modern condensed matter physics has evolved and expanded significantly from the scope of traditional solid state physics and has become a research field highly interdisciplinary in nature. Here we review some important recent developments that have led to conceptual and technological breakthroughs and have made significant impact on other research frontiers and applications.
